Florida Midterm Elections ------------------------------ Amendment 2 Tax Cap

Most people know that tomorrow's midterm elections will decide who will represent Florida and our districts in the House and Senate, whether Republicans can keep their majorities in these chambers and who will be Florida's next Governor. However, voters are also asked to make MANY more decisions. Click here for a sample ballot.

Especially interesting for most of our second home owners is proposed "Amendment 2". Currently, property tax assessments can only increase by a maximum of 10% per year for "specified nonhomestead real property, except for school district taxes". If "Amendment 2" does not pass, this provision will expire. However, second home owners would only experience higher annual property tax increases, if property values increased accordingly.
