Oil spill - preparing for Top and Bottom Kill

The well was capped about 2 weeks ago. But the oil spill catastrophy in the Gulf of Mexico is not over yet. The Macondo Well has still to be sealed permanently. Here is the schedule for the next steps: Start operation Static Kill (mud and cement from top) next Sunday or Monday, operation Bottom Kill (mud and cement from bottom via relief well) about Aug 7, 2010. That SHOULD do it. But this time there seem to be contingency plans in place. So, if there will be problems with any of the sealing operations, and oil begins to flow again, containment of more oil can start right away. The ships are being prepared and capacity has been increased. – Something has been learned already! More Info.
