Once in a while visitors are concerned about sharks in the Gulf of Mexico. However the risk of being attacked is in fact minimal. Astatistic of the Florida Museum of Natural History (University of Florida) shines a light on this.  In the last 120 years there were only 5 (five) confirmed shark attacks in Lee County (Beaches of Fort Myers, Bonita, Sanibel, Captiva, etc.). - So, no reason not to enjoy our beautiful beaches and the warm weather.
